- Started to rivet the flaps together
As the
top skins are still away for priming there was only a little that
could be done today on the flaps. So the nose ends of the
ribs were riveted with their corresponding spaces, sprayed dark
green using a rattle can. The brackets were installed onto
the spar and ribs and then clecoed together waiting for the top
skins to return.

25/08/2008 - Leak
testing again !
Like I
said in early pages I had one leak which was the BNC connector and
even with Loctite I have not been able to resolve it. The
leak is not to bad when the voltage converter is added and when
this was all wet I checked for any shorting as there was none.
So made the decision to just seal up the whole connector once the
wing was on and the voltage regulator was in place.

A slightly better picture of the inside of the
leading edge showing the rivet detail from yesterday

Installing the fuel tank onto the spar
So
with the above decision made it was time to fit the tank to the
spar. All the bolts went in fine, and I used some Loctite
thread locker to make sure. I am very happy with the fit
over the top of the wing as you can see by the pictures. The
screws have been installed again with thread locker on the top
side.

The underneath is a different story. The tank to
main skins fit well, but the tank to leading edge skin has a gap.
It starts about half way down just accepting a piece of paper
between the skins and then builds up to the edge at the spar as a
gap of 1/32".

Mixed feelings about today after yesterdays
euphoria ! leaks, gaps...I have resigned to reading up to
see if this common/normal/or someone has a smart solution. I
still have to put the screws in along this edge and I will start
at the inboard end and run to the outboard where the gap is and
hope it pulls it a little tighter.
